This letter was written around 57 AD by Paul, a well educated Jew. He was devoted to Judaism and seriously persecuted Christians before he became one of himself. In this book, Paul gives a very clear and well organized explanation of fundamental Christian doctrine: being put right with God through faith.
The Law requests mankind to do good but mankind is not able to fulfill the requirement of the Law. In this book Paul addresses a common struggle of man as he tries to earn salvation through his deeds.
“For even though the desire to do good is in me, I am not able to do it. I don't do the good I want to do; instead, I do the evil that I do not want to do.”(7:18-19)
Paul expounded and proved the fall of mankind and there is no way out except by intervention from God. He explained that salvation through the blood of Jesus Christ is for all mankind. There is no difference between human race, tradition and culture, social status of a person or the behavior of man.
Sinners will be justified and set free by grace and faith through Jesus Christ, not the works of the Law.
